Condition of document: 
Single-leaf fragment. The recto of the fragment is slightly damaged while the verso is badly damaged and hardly legible. The top of the fragment is torn with loss of contents; a long horizontal fold divides the fragment in two halves. Many wrinkles, some holes and stitching at the bottom. The fragment was used as book cover.
Page layout: 
Fragment size: 370 x 255 mm. Text area: one column of c. 295 x 190 mm. 10 text lines with musical notation.
Type of notation: 
Aquitanian (Portuguese variety)
Decoration: 
Small size pen-flourished initials in black ink signal the beginning of the Alleluia verse. Medium size pen-flourished initials in red or blue. On the verso there is a big foliated "D" in blue, red and black ink but it is badly damaged. Text and notation in black ink. Medium-size neumes placed around a red line.
Inscriptions and marks: 
A modern hand added "3" in red ink at the top of the recto. Inscription on the verso: "Dorray / Bar. de 1566 [...] 1763 [...] edef."
Remarks: 
P. Avelino de Jesus da Costa refers to this fragment as: "Registo Paroquial - Distrito de Braga - Concelho de Barcelos - 258 – Durrãis (São Lourenço) – Livro primeiro mixto – 1564-1663". Durrães (São Lourenço) is one of the parish churches of the archdiocese of Braga.
